Simple Steps to Index, Locate, and View Scanned Images in ScanVue DB.

this guide while viewing the
Screen Shots of Database Features
How to Index/Enter Images in the Database:
- Click on "Mode" Menu.
- Click on "View/Database".
- Make sure the "Comma (,) Delimited
ASCII Database file is checked", click "OK".
- Type full path or Browse to find the folder
containing your images. Example: C:\Images
- Enter the name for the data file you want
to create. Example: data1
- Click "Open" and simply Select
the Folder again that contains the images
- Follow the directions on the "Index Field Setup"
window to Select/Name
Fields . Enter a
descriptive name for each field such as: CUSTOMER, TITLE, etc., click
"Continue".
- ScanVue DB will open and display the Fields
and text boxes on the right side of the screen.
- Click on "File" Menu and open
the first image in the same Folder containing the images.
- Enter the information, you want to
associate with the image, in the appropriate text box
Field (use keyboard "Tab" to advance thru fields).
- Use keyboard "Enter" to
advance to next image and enter information for that image.
- Repeat and enter information for all
desired images.
- Click on "File" Menu and
"Save Edited File" to save as data1.txt in the Image
folder.
- Click on "Close DB Mode" menu.
How to Search and Locate Images in the Database:
- Click on "Mode" Menu.
- Click on "View/Database".
- Make sure the "Comma (,) Delimited
ASCII Database file is checked", click "OK".
- Browse and find the data file
(data1.txt)
that was just created Example: C:\Images\data1.txt
- Click "Open" and again Select
the Folder containing the images.
- Click
"Continue" when the "Index Field Setup" window
appears ( Fields are already entered).
- ScanVue DB will open with the Fields and
text boxes displayed on the right side of the screen.
- Enter any text or number query in the
"Search" box above the fields and click the "New"
button.
- ScanVue DB will search thru the entire database
file (data1.txt) and display all data that was entered/associated with each image that matches the
information entered in the "Search" box.
- You can narrow the search
by selecting the "Down" arrow (right side of Search box
Important: Closing ScanVue
DB in the following manner will cause it to open with the same image and
database settings as when closed, (eliminating steps 1-7 above). Close
ScanVue DB with the red "Close" X in the upper right corner of the
screen or by choosing "Exit" under the "File" menu.
How to View and Print Images:
- Review the results of the data
"Search" and select the entry data that describes the image you
want to view.
- Double-Clicking with the mouse, on the
selected entry, will display the desired image file.
- The "Flying Magnifying Glass"
is activated by depressing the right mouse button. Try it!
- To select any portion of the displayed
image, click on the fourth menu button from the left. The icon is a
printed page with a darkened box on it and is next to the button with
the printer icon.
- Move the mouse to the top left corner of
the area to
be printed and while depressing the left mouse button, drag the mouse to the
lower right of the portion you wish to print and release. The area selected for printing with appear to change
color.
- Click on the button with the printer
icon and select OK to print "Selected Portion"
